I've taken down all the trees I can safely take down on my property (that need to come down) but I have two that are too much of a risk to my house and my neighbor's if they decide to change direction when being felled. Does anyone have a good, but reasonably priced company they've worked with in the past for tree removal?

The next thing is that we need our driveway repaved. Not just sealed, but repaved. No milling. We get plenty of fliers in the mail and dropped off at our door, but no way to know if they're actually good at their job. Does anyone have someone they'd recommend?

Lastly, there's a hole in my downstairs bathroom ceiling from where I had a leak from the upstairs bathroom that started coming through the ceiling. I could patch it myself, but it's the busy season for me, and time is money. It's a handyman job, no need for a full-on drywall contractor. Just a 12"x12" patch that may need some blocking added to tack into. Again, any recommendations would be appreciated!

Excellent tree folks. I need a drywall guy myself so I'll be watching your thread to see how it goes.

These guys started out in Takoma Park, IIRC. Early on, decades ago, a jumbo oak was thrown across the yard and onto cars parked in front of the house. Being inclined at the time to support local business, I gave them a call.

They wanted 6 grand to cut up and haul away a tree that was already down. I declined, and you can imagine how I felt about their gouging their neighbors. TP was a much more downscale place then, and folks were living at the margins. They'll never see a dime from me.

These guys did ours several years ago. Not a huge drive but it was excessively sloped and I wanted it leveled out a bit more and extended just a bit. So they had to excavate one side and fill in on the other. They did a good job, showed up in force and knocked it out in one day. I honestly have no idea now what the price was but I accepted it.

We have used this tree service for several years to remove trees on the property. I have 100 foot poplars and he climbs them and lowers the limbs if need be to not destroy your garden or house. If the area is safe, he will fall the whole tree and either shred it up or leave it your choice. He is very reasonable and lives in N. VA so coming to Monkey County will be no problem.

His name is Pedro Garcia, and his company is called Guanako's Tree Service

He has done work for several other MDS members as well.

This guy was in my neighborhood a few days ago. We had him cut down one of our trees and cut back a couple of limbs on another for a good price.

I will probably need a tree guy at some point. Probably the first thing I'm going to want to see is a valid and active insurance policy.
