Republicans want their cake and eat it too.

The republicans created Act 77 with Wolfe, and then wanted to repeal it after Trump lost the election.

The law should have been struck down from the get go in 2019!

Too many potential issues with mail in ballots as a widespread option. Unless good reason can be proven as to why they can’t, why can’t folks stand in a line as most of us always have?

    I agree.

The Republicans' tried to get more people to vote "R", which was why they passed the law, that was contrary to the PA Constitution.

Covid bit the republicans in the azz, when the mail in vote was commandeered by Wolfe and company for the 2020 election.

Otherwise, the republicans would have had to eat crow to repeal the law, which would have been vetoed by Wolfe.

Physical handicaps aside, if you aren't motivated enough to find a way to get to the polls one time to vote, I'm certain you have not been motivated enough to spend the time it takes to understand the issues.

    § 14. Absentee voting.

    (a) The Legislature shall, by general law, provide a manner in which, and the time and place at which, qualified electors who may, on the occurrence of any election, be absent from the municipality of their residence, because their duties, occupation or business require them to be elsewhere or who, on the occurrence of any election, are unable to attend at their proper polling places because of illness or physical disability or who will not attend a polling place because of the observance of a religious holiday or who cannot vote because of election day duties, in the case of a county employee, may vote, and for the return and canvass of their votes in the election district in which they respectively reside.

They obviously allow for it with a valid reason, you are truly "absentee" or physically disabled. 2.6 million PA voters were NOT absentee or disabled last election.

The problem is that states violate the US and their state constitutions all the time and are never held to account for it.
The courts won't go back and invalidate the results of the election, they just say "Don't do it again in the future."

So, the governor and/or state legislature will concoct a new and different way to violate their state constitution. A fraudulent election will be held, people sue the state afterwards, it goes to court, the court says "That was illegal, don't do it again. We won't overturn the results of this past election" and on and on it goes.

Politicians everywhere, at various levels of government are now routinely violating our constitution willfully and knowingly because there are no consequences. Biden blatantly stated on national TV that he knew his mandates were unconstitutional but that most people would be vaccinated by the time the cases were tried at SCOTUS. Mission (sort of) accomplished.

How to we stop this cycle from happening?

The irony the politicians that sued the law as unconstitutional, is one of the politicians that sponsored the bill to begin with.

Which alludes to my "cake and eat it too" reference up thread.

Easy answer is to remove those people from the positions where they could make an illegal change. We got complacent while we saw George Soros put millions into SoS positions that previously went unnoticed. Now we know why.
We also need to sue the second we see any impropriety. Those courts that claimed laches for suing after the 2020 election cannot possibly come back and now claim no standing for suing before an election. The choice is fix the election before the votes come in or fix it after (which is infinitely harder to do).

Put aside the unconstitutional aspect for a second. It wasn't that long ago where a panel including Jimmy Carter warned that mail in ballots were rife with fraud. Almost all other countries also have bans or severely restrict mail in ballots. There's a good reason why they do and it's not because of "racism" or "suppression". It's because they're difficult to verify. France had a massive cheating scandal in the 70's and shut it down.

The PA legislature should have recognized this. You can't have universal mail in ballots when your voter rolls are dirty and bloated.

Lately my belief in the fairness of elections is the on same level of thought that World Wrestling Federation is real. In watching both we see how fake the moves are to hood wink the audience, both display maniacal characters screaming doom for their opponents and both are pre-determined outcomes. The corruption is so deep even the players can't tell the difference anymore.

Meanwhile Maryland is pushing wide spread mail in voting.

I've received notices from Carroll County offering me and my wife numerous options to vote by mail in both the Primary and General Election.

One option is to print out my own ballot from an email attachment.

Historically, Carroll is the most staunchly Republican county in Maryland. I suppose that is about to change.
