    Does anyone know if either the Bow-Mag(.38 or.357 pointed/tipped round) or the Bow-Shot(steel shot preloaded tip) are legal for use in MD? Not really interested in the Bow-Mag, but thinking I might like to try the Bow-Shot. I did a really quick look at the DNR sight but didn't see anything(keep in mind I had a screaming 5 yr old that was getting most of my attention at the time).

    EDIT
    Found this blurb on the DNR website;

    Regulations Pertaining to Both Vertical Bows and Crossbows

    Arrows used for deer or bear hunting must have a sharpened broadhead with a metal cutting surface having a minimum width of 7⁄8 of an inch.
    The vertical bow and crossbow may be used for hunting deer during the Deer Firearms Season and Muzzleloader Season, in accordance with Firearms and Muzzleloader Season regulations.
    Firearms may not be carried while hunting deer during the Bow Season.
    The use of poisoned arrows is not permitted.

    If taken at face value as it reads, it doesn't address my question. I my just email DNR tomorrow.

    Hmmmm. Please let us know DNR's answer.
    I thought there was a thread somewhere talking about broadheads like these or similar. Maybe the Water Cooler thread. Even had a video, I think. Don't know if your question is answered in the thread though...

    I remember the thread you are talking about, I just couldn't find it. I guess last night was just not my night for searching the forum.

    So I called DNR today. I explained to the guy that answered that I had read the site but didn't see anything one way or the other and asked if he could help. He promptly read me what was on the site, then quoted blade lengths and then said "no". I thanked the nice man and wished him a good day. I'll try calling in a few days with the hopes of getting someone else that can carry a conversation.

    Just saw the website..highly doubt it will be legal in Maryland.

    Bow hunts are traditional in a sense of using broadhead only. No explosive tips. Maybe legal in other states but not here.

    After 3 calls and no real answer to my question, I think I am going just go with they are not legal to use in MD. I really didn't care about the Bow-Mag, but was thinking the Bow-Shot might be a good option for turkey hunting.
