I have a single shot (percussion) bp pistol. I just want to know what you recommend for cleaning them? I use just the normal stuff; hoppe's #9 and put some gun oil.
Also another question: How clean to you get your bp guns - spotless?

    Thanks in advance!

    Can the barrel be removed?

I use water and patches but I can remove the barrels on all of mine with wedge pins.
Alcohol or WD40 to displace the remaining water.
With a patent breech, patch wrapped around a 22 brush.
Lastly, a patch with Barricade at the end.
Nipples get a soak in something followed by the drill bit that fits in it and pipe cleaner. Drill bit is used to remove caked on resedue.
With nipple removed, I use pipe cleaner to clean out the flash channel.

Get your cleaning routine down and it goes faster the more you do it.

All the above, I shoot a few different black powder cartridge rifles and after a day or 2 a cleaning I do a overall lookie see and check firearm all over for any signs of rust or corrosion. If I see a faint red color anywhere I do another deep cleaning.
