Just thought I would follow up on a previous comment I made about making pellet traps out of sand filled containers.
These are working out great for me. When an area gets full of holes, I tape it and turn the can around. When I am ready to recycle it, I dump the sand in a colander and shake it over a 3 or 5 gallon bucket. See pics.
Some lesson learned items. 1. Don't shoot small coffee cans with a .25 PCP at 25 yards. It blows right through the can. If you use a large plastic coffee can, you can do it and it will retain the pellets. The small ones will work at 50 yards. 2. Make sure you have a cap on the container. I used coffee containers for the most part which I fill and turn over with the lid on the bottom. This keeps the high powered slugs from blowing the cap off.
These are almost silent when struck unlike a standard bullet trap.
Enjoy.
