In an attempt to arm Apple Computer's security staff because of threats to CEO Tim Cook, Apple partook of a scheme to get Carry Permits from the Sheriff's office, only to get shaken down. Lots of fraud, lots of irony, lots of Just Plain Californication. So to speak.

if there is prosecution, i am wondering who will be hit with the bigger charges/crimes and possible punishment

the apple guy who offered the bribe or the .gov official(s) who took them. if the law meant anything, the LAW enforcement people who took them should receive similar, or more harsh punishment.

similar to the case in nyc, where a ?lawyer?... Alex Lichtenstein, and all those from the customers to the various .gov people who took the bribes for permits. for example, iirc, the lawyer got 30something months, the .gov guy, nypd official only got 18 months. it was pretty wide spread with the key part, the ability to issue for money, inside the nypd and associated .gov groups. you can google for more detailed information.

some previous related links to the apple case thread below.

    and

details on the sentence difference here... lichtenstein got 32months, per the article, vs 18 for ex nypd.

probably others, but it gives more context.

and this all started before bruen, when many folks could only acquire a cwp through bribery.
