Hi. I hoping someone can help with some feedback. I am considering a Hellcat RDP. It comes with a threaded barrel and compensator. From what I can find, these are legal in Maryland and illegal in Delaware. Delaware rules are important to me since we live just over the Delaware line in Maryland. Most of our activity is in Delaware vs Maryland. So if I want to carry/target shoot in Delaware I will need to get a second barrel. Not a huge deal breaker. But this all makes me wonder where I can use/possibly carry this gun with the compensator attached. Does anyone have one of these guns or some other gun with a threaded barrel? Have you researched and found a source to reference that shows where threaded barrels are legal without doing a state by state search? Thanks for any help.

I don't carry, but many members here will tell you having a compensator on a self defense gun isn't the best idea. You may be taking a shot in an awkward position that can injure yourself from the dispersing of the gasses.

Totally understand and agree from a carry perspective. I sincerely appreciate the feedback. But I also think there might be some fun in target shooting with this gun. But I’m concerned about where else this barrel/compensator are legal besides Maryland. Thanks.

I have a hellcat and absolutely love everything about it. It conceals
well for me and fits perfectly in my hand. I suggest handing one prior to purchasing. Hell if you can find one to rent then that’s the best solution. I would but the hellcat OSP(if you want to play with red dots) then buy the new barrel for fun days. Springfield just released the barrel/comp for 200 bucks I believe. You can have best of both worlds if you prefer. Shoot comp at the range and carry with the OG barrel. Either way it’s a great concealed carry pistol and then legal in both states.

. Thanks for the info. We rented both the Hellcat and the hellcat pro This past week. We really liked the Hellcat. It fits well in our hands and love how it shoots. I agree on the double barrel idea, although I was going to do it backwards. Buy the RDP and then buy the reg barrel and swap between the two. The only thought behind that pathway was because there is a Delaware shop that has the RDP. They got it from the supplier thinking it was a pinned compensator. They didn’t realize it was threaded. They can’t legally sell it to a Delaware resident. They need someone from Maryland to buy it. Since I think they have had it a little while with no takers, I was sort of hoping they might give me a good deal on either the gun, additional barrel or the MD compliant magazines. Buying in Delaware also allows me to get and keep the larger magazines. We are also looking at the Sig P365 or P365X. Trying to find somewhere that has one or both to rent. Thanks again for the feedback.
