Neighbor just purchase a TED WILLIAMS (SEARS & ROEBUCK) M-300 12 ga. Semi Auto with 26" Barrel in great shape.

He stopped-by and asked if safe to shoot steel shot, any ideas?

That gun is a Winchester 1400 made by Winchester as the M-300 specifically for Sears.

There is no reason not to shoot steel 2-3/4" loads. Many tout it as better built and better quality than the parent 1400.

It's a good, solid gun. It has a few issues to watch for, same as all early semi's of the late '60s. He should search for an instruction manual.

    Where they send me.
Should be the same gun as a Win 1400. I would check the serial # on it to see when it was made. Could be OK, but if I was betting, I would say no.

However, I am not much of a shotgun guy and not a steel shot guy at all.
