One extremely important, but hidden, insidious dynamic of red flag gun confiscation law is that the only gun confiscation mistakes that can be measured are under-predictions of dangerousness. This naturally causes an increase in over-predicting the dangerousness of persons who legally possess firearms.

    I explain it further here:

Oberlin, Kansas!? That's right down in my neck of the woods. I grew up in Imperial, NE, about 60ish miles from McCook to the west. How did you find Maryland Shooters?

    Good article by the way!

"The American Psychiatric Association openly admits that “While psychiatrists can often identify circumstances associated with an increased likelihood of violent behavior, they cannot predict dangerousness with definitive accuracy.” Certainly a judge cannot, either. The real issues with red flag law, then, are its inherent strong tendency to overpredict future dangerousness among lawful gun owners, and the fact that there is nothing we can do about it."

They were wrong about Kris Kringle.

He did pop that phony shrink in the head with his cane!

Of course he deserved it but....

The simple argument that should be made is that if someone is to “dangerous” to possess firearms, then they are to dangerous to be in free society!

The whole "he was on the radar" thing is useless without context. If there are 100,000 people "on the radar" and only a dozen go off the rails, then the radar is useless at separating the wheat from the chaff, and you can't go deep on 100,000 to find 12. OTOH, if there are a few dozen on the radar at any moment, then it's possible to do some follow up.
