    SB 57, Senator Salim,
makes it illegal for a concealed handgun permit holder to carry a concealed handgun onto the premises of any restaurant or club which sells alcoholic beverages for on-premise consumption. This is a classic example of a solution looking for a problem to solve. Virginia’s 680,000 permit holders, as well as hundreds of thousands of non-resident permit holders visiting Virginia, have been peaceably carrying concealed handguns in restaurants and clubs that serve alcohol since 2010.

Yes he can but the Dems control both House and Senate and can override a veto.

Best to kill this in committee if possible
The Dems control them but don't have a super majority in either. So little likelihood of overriding any vetos.

Yes, I get it. My comment was intended to convey that the law is unnecessary since there are already restrictions on boozing and carrying.

    Not that the left cares.

People are ignoring the gun laws left and right down here. If a municipality down here passes a slew of gun laws they as of this writing are not enforced too much that I have noticed.

Texas has this law. 51% rule.
That's why criminals target bars in Texas.
Every time a customer stops such a criminal, sometimes permanently, nobody in the bar can recall what the customer looked like.
Criminals love it when gov't tells them where it is safe to work.
