Good news – on Thursday the House Public Safety subcommittee #1 reported out Delegate Wilt’s HB 827, which repeals local gun-control, with a 6 to 4 vote!
Voting pro-gun: Delegates Freitas, Fariss, Campbell, R.R., Wiley, Cordoza, March (all Republicans)
Voting anti-gun: Delegates Kory, Jenkins, Williams Graves, Clark (all Democrats)
On Friday the House Public Safety full committee reported out HB 827, too, on a 12 to 10 vote.
Voting pro-gun: Delegates Wilt, Fariss, Webert, Freitas, Campbell, R.R., Davis, Batten, Wiley, Ballard, Williams, Cordoza, March (all Republicans)
Voting anti-gun: Delegates Hope, Kory, Simon, Rasoul, Plum, Bourne, Jenkins, Williams Graves, Mundon King, Clark (all Democrats)
HB 827 now heads to the House Floor for a vote this week.
Sadly, the Democrats on the House Public Safety committee continue to show their disdain for the Bill of Rights. Both parties should be supporting our basic civil rights, but the House Democrats are refusing to do so.
The next two weeks are going to be busy with gun bills. There will be gun bills heard in the Senate Judiciary committee on Wednesday afternoon and possibly more gun bills in the House Public Safety subcommittee #1 on Thursday afternoon. Also, a few gun bills will be coming up in some miscellaneous committees soon.
Alerts will come out once we know more about any gun bills coming up in committees.
