    1. VCDL/GOA bump stock lawsuit appealed to U.S. Supreme Court!

As you might recall, VCDL and GOA filed suit against the government over the bump stock ban. The suit says that BATFE is making law and it has no authority to do that.

We won the case in a Federal 6th Circuit Court of Appeals panel last year. The Government appealed and the full 6th Circuit court tied, with half agreeing with us and the other half agreeing with the Government. That tie left the last ruling, which was against us, in effect.

VCDL and GOA have now appealed the case to the U.S. Supreme Court. We’ll update you as things progress.

    2. Help Needed: Richmond Gun Show on March 26/27

The next gun show is scheduled for March 26th & 27th at the Richmond Raceway, 600 East Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23222.

The website for this show is: https://www.showmastersgunshows.com/richmond--va---raceway-.html

As of now, this show will have 800 tables, no occupancy limits and no time slots, so this promises to be a very busy show!

We have many new members who want to support VCDL. Volunteering for a few hours at a gun show is a great way for both new and established members to get involved and support VCDL.

Helping at a gun show is fun and requires no previous experience. First timers are needed and very welcome.

Gun show volunteers are admitted free. Many of the exhibitor/vendors offer discounts to our volunteers. If you are a first timer, don't worry, we'll have experienced member volunteers on every shift to help you.

Right now, we have openings for all shifts.

    Friday, March 25th afternoon set up: 4:30pm - 6:00pm

    Saturday, March 26th morning shift: 9:00am – 1:00pm

    Saturday, March 26th afternoon shift: 1:00pm – 5:00pm

    Sunday, March 27th morning shift: 10:00am – 1:30pm

    Sunday, March 27th afternoon shift: 1:30pm – 5:00pm

Mark your calendars and start the new year off right. It's time to step up and get involved!

To volunteer for the show, please send your request along with your preferred time slot to: gunshows.richmond@vcdl.org.

    3. Carry a gun even at home – man shot bringing in trash cans

Happened in Norfolk in broad daylight:

    4. Virginia gun owner runs off violent man trying to kill a woman who has a toddler

    5. “Is this the end of Form 1 Suppressors?” by VCDL attorney John Pierce

The BATFE is criminalizing homemade suppressors made using solvent-trap kits or pre-made internal components. Gun owners may apply to make their own suppressor using a Federal Form 1. This is more of L.G. Brandon’s war on peaceful gun-ownership, while ignoring criminal misuse of firearms and accoutrements.

This article gives crucial information for those of you who have bought things like solvent traps from Diversified Machine and filed the requisite Form 1 to make a suppressor.

Through actions like this BATFE is, sadly, making a mockery of U.S. gun laws by willful misinterpreting those laws to go after good people who play by the rules.

    6. Members report Loudoun and Prince William Counties turning around CHPs quickly

Member James L. said that the Prince William Circuit Court Clerk’s Office has turned around his CHP application in a two-week time period and has done so for the last 10+ years. He said the staff has always been friendly and helpful.

Member Gary B. said that the Loudoun County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office turned around his wife’s CHP application in less than two weeks. Gary wrote, “I am quick to criticize when it’s not done right but Gary Clemens [PVC: the Clerk] runs a tight ship and got everything out in a very timely manner.”

On the other hand, I have seen several complaints about Arlington County not getting CHPs out on time and not getting out the temporary permits on time, either.

    7. Virginia is the model for other states on turning around government!

As I’ve said before – Virginia is a very important state and one that the nation is watching right now. VCDL and Virginia gun owners are leading the way to freedom, but we must stay engaged or we can find ourselves buried under gun control.

Let’s show the other 49 how it’s done!

    8. Good guy with gun stops bad guy with gun at school in Kansas

    9. Sheesh – Gun-control group says gun-rights advocates are “deeply irresponsible” for making a “2A/Ukraine” connection

Don’t you just love it when the Giffords gun-control group calls it deeply irresponsible when gun-rights people point out that the 2A would have been a very useful tool for the Ukraine to remain free?

    10. Gun-control groups like Biden’s pick for Supreme Court

And here comes the gun-controllers with their lies:

Everytown president John Feinblatt: “President Biden has governed as the strongest gun safety president in history, and we have every confidence that Judge Jackson will employ a mainstream, commonsense reading of the Second Amendment.”

Baloney. Gun-controllers are not fans of Biden. Calling him the “strongest gun-safety president in history” is trying and failing to make lemonade out of lemons. Biden is not doing their bidding fast enough or thoroughly enough for them. And when gun-controllers use the term “commonsense”, you know they are talking about just the opposite.

And Shannon Watts, with Moms Demand Action, says the same thing, following the talking points provided to her: “President Biden … nominated someone who we are confident will determine that common sense gun safety laws are constitutional…Our grassroots army of volunteers across the country were proud to help elect the strongest gun safety administration in history…”

The Brady Campaign followed suit, misusing the word “commonsense”, too.

    11. Don’t play into the dangerous game of road rage

This event happened in Illinois but serves to remind us all not to get in a “road rage.”

First, if you are yelling at another person or strike them, you are no longer considered “innocent” in the eyes of the law and you will have to retreat as far as you can before being able to defend yourself should the other person decide to use deadly force to end the dispute.

Second, you have no idea who that other person is, what their history is, if they are armed, if they are high on drugs or alcohol, or if they are even sane.
