    Man, I would love that RPD.
    The polish kits, like the one Combloc has, came in with intact barrels. Condition of most was very good to cherry. The semiautomatic/closed bolt conversion is not an easy job.

    If you can locate one of those kits, the job is worth doing. I can't recommend doing the job on a us made barrel.

    How about endless belts, where the beginning is attached to the end, and a hopper inserts rounds into the endless belt? Not that I've ever seen one... :-)
    Why bother with the belt at that point; just go straight hopper feed:
