I use a prone position to determine the distance forward / back a new scope, thinking this is the least forgiving position with respect to eye relief. I also use the highest magnification. Just curious what you guys do.
Standing
Magnification set at mid to low range
Close eyes and get comfortable then open eyes and adjust.
I’ll definitely be watching this to get more ideas.
I think only 2&3 gun is when I shot prone in the last 10 years and I really didn’t notice a problem.
PRS type rigs: prone and confirm in barricade positions.
Hunting/varmint rigs: definitely prone.
Lpvo on carbine: standing and confirm in barricade, kneeling, sitting, and prone.
All done at max power where eye relief is least forgiving.
Note: when setting up a rifle I try to do any cutting/adding spacers or pads/adjustments to the stock to achieve comfortable fit prior to optic mounting.
