I drug this out of the closet again just to make sure it is not rusting and functional. (No to both)

Still looks OK, some staining on the barrel but there is little corrosion and the rifling is good. So it was cleaned decades ago before retiring.

However, after chambering a .22lr the firing pin will not strike.

    Maybe it was removed?

I thought this was my father in law’s gun, he was born in 1920 (Deceased) His family moved to this house from DC to MD in 1932 where we still live to this day.

Prior to that time his father was from New Hampshire and his mother from Frederick, MD.

I found examples selling for -$300 so no real value. It would just be fun to get the heirloom working.

Obviously a starter/kids gun it has no practicle value either.

He was a career Naval officer and his father a Navy Reserve MD.

    No service pieces found. :(

Anyone have experience with these, bolt removal etc. ?

    Pics.

Eureka! I finally found a YooToob discussing a similar model.

And mine functions. I didn’t realize the firing pin needs to be manually charged after chambering a round.

This thing is tiny. The barrel is 18in and the LOA is 34in.

Take it out and shoot it!

I think there's are instructions somewhere on the Dark Web for converting that to full auto.

Pretty cool old heirloom. Could be handy for grizzly bear attacks, too.

Here is a thread I posted sometime ago about a Winchester 1902.

    Thank you!

That one is a little older and nicer than ours.

Great story too. We were able to take my wife's father sailing with us before he died, but did not know about the rifle until after he was gone.

He hid it from my wife real good!
