      Muzzleloader barrel

It's coming along well; only working it part-time. It's all squared off and I am going to use the bore chamfering tool as soon as it gets here. Good thing is that I went to the local high school and spoke to a shop teacher. He let me use their disk sander and set me up really well. This is...

Maynard 2nd model carbine, my new skirmish gun

The carving in the stock doesn't look much like a cartouche of any kind. I'd say it was just something the owner did. Soldiers would do that too, I reckon, maybe out of boredom. Almost looks like a bow and arrow, or something that only had meaning to the owner. Pretty interesting and a very fine...

      Muzzleloader barrel

Well, thanks very much Epps. But I am going to try this myself - call it a learning experience. I'd like to build a flintlock myself, could be the start of a good hobby.

      Muzzleloader barrel

There may be any number of reasons to cut one down, I guess, but I found this at a yard sale in PA. It looks like it was already cut down but was done unevenly. It's a good barrel and when I "fix" it will still be 36" long. Got it for $3.00 and, like I said, it's a Getz barrel. Then I'm going to...

      Muzzleloader barrel

Has anybody any experience with cutting down, squaring and crowning a black powder barrel? I have one that was apparently cut down but was cut on a bias (which is why I got it for cheap!). I'd like to get it squared away ( pun intended) as it is a Getz barrel and I don't want it to go to waste...

      Fort Frederick

Always a hoot, especially if you are a F&I War buff and like traditional muzzleloaders and stuff. Nothing modern, nothing later than the 1840s. All period encampment. Great for kids, too.

Best gun range in Baltimore County and Anne Arundel county?

Just curious. What are you shooting those .35 Remingtons in? I have been looking for a Remington Gamemaster 760 in that caliber. Not a real popular cartridge here but I love it. BTW, I shoot at Delta Peach Bottom, but its not in MD.

      Gunsmith help

I recently came into possession of a Winchester 1897 12 gauge, Black Diamond tournament grade shotgun that has been used and knocked around a bit. Still looks good, though and the slide and hammer work well. Does anyone know a reliable gunsmith in Baltimore County, Harford County or close by who...

I posted this in the Black Powder section, then I thought . . . An 18th century Market Fair at Fort Frederick April 25-28, 2013. Admission for the public is $5. Tons of 18th century accoutrements if you reenact, and tons of high quality muzzleloaders and stuff. Its all about the F&I War and...

      1st blk powder gun

Have you checked the CVA website to see if they have manuals that can be downloaded? Usually, by removing the sideplate screws, the lockplate can be removed.
