What time do we need to get there?

I need to put in my request for time off. I don't want to waste time off, but I don't want to miss out on getting in to testify either.

3 bills that day, hearing starts at 1pm. Chances are it'll be the last one, but you never know...Frosh is trying to get this through quickly (which is why it's scheduled 2 days before the rally in Annapolis), so he may flip the script.

    -Be polite.
    -Be factual.
    -Dress appropriately (dress to impress).
-DO NOT use unsubstantiated numbers/figures...provide credible sources.
-DO NOT fall back on emotional responses/arguments
-Submit written testimony when you sign up (provides paper trail and if you keep a copy, gives you reference material while testifying)
-Be prepared to wait, a lot.

I'm sure I missed a few things, others will chime in...

    From the legislature site:

Anyone wishing to testify on any bill must sign the witness register before 12:45 p.m. If you have written testimony, please submit 20 copies to the staff for distribution by 12:00 p.m. The order that bills are listed on the schedule is not necessarily the order in which they will be heard. Materials submitted for the Committee's consideration should not include plastic covers, binders or other materials that cannot be easily re-used or recycled.

So looks like noon would be a good time to get there? I'm not really sure - new to all this.

I have jury duty. If I can get out of it, I will go. I can move clients and almost anything else, but I already moved it once.

Figures they'd push it in before the rally. This is just the committee hearing to get it into the General Assembly right? Where do our chances of stopping it look best? Here or in the full assembly?

I already took off work for 2/8, so I doubt I'll be able to take off 2/6 unfortunately. I'll certainly try though, but more just to be there than to speak; I'll leave the public speaking to someone from here who's going and is good at it.

Crap. I was planning to go to this but I have an all day team meeting. I will be monitoring this thread and will head up if the hearings run long into the night to provide my support. Can some one periodically post updates on the 6th with progress? That way folks like me know if it is worthwhile to make the drive if it's after 5:00PM

Will having numbers of supporters at the hearing, those that are not speaking be beneficial? I can probably make both, but would not feel comfortable testifying.

Just curious, do they only allow "x" number of people into the hearing, or can we line the halls and essentially filibuster them?
