    If you are talking about the elevation slide there is a screw and a spring (more like a bent piece of sheet metal) that work together.

    The spring could be bent or the screw could be loose. Numrich had replacements for both. If the windage is loose that's a little more complicated (it has a set screw, spring and miniscule plunger)

    The green arrow is the set screw for the windage knob, the red is for the sight base (may not be there in later models) the sight base is usually heavily staked as well. The sight base is probably not your problem, but that's the only picture I could find.

    The unlabeled screw holds the slide and the tensioner is under that.
