I'm setting up a rifle for 3 gun competition, and am looking to find out what dot size people are using on their secondary optic on an offset mount? I am leaning towards an Insight MRDS with 3.5 MOA dot. I know where there is a deal on the same optic, but with the 7 MOA dot. My concern is that the 7 MOA dot will be too big. For what it is worth, the primary optic will be a Leupold Mark 4 1.5-5 scope with SPR reticle. So what size dot are most of the 3 gun shooters using these days? Surprisingly an internet search didn't turn up much information.

You need the secondary optic for close range shooting. A 7 MOA dot isn't going to cover a lot of the paper silhouette target you'll be shooting at close range, and it's easier to see when you're in a hurry. Personally, if I were going with a secondary optic, I'd snag a small red dot and put it on an angled rail section and call it a day. I'm going with an open sight setup after the start of next year.
