jp brake. i've used the cooley on a friends rifle. i've installed a couple of the recoil eliminators (aka tank brakes) on .223 and one .300 win mag for friends. that is a great brake but it does look butt ugly.

thinking about the triangle shooting sports rolling thunder to try out. heard good things.

I've looked at the recoil eliminator and just can't get past that sideways pipe look....It might be very effective but it looks pretty funky....

yeah, its pretty ugly. if you do use it, just make sure that you have it on tight. i was shooting next to a guy at knob creek who had one loosen during a long burst during the night shoot. interesting pinwheel effect. people applauded. apparently they all thought it was supposed to do that. long story short, his now has been drilled and tapped for a set screw (10.5" M16 host).

I've been a huge fan of the ak-74 type brakes in several derivations. I sporterized a couple of chinese mosin carbines, threading the muzzle in a 14x1 LH or RH and found that out of the many different brakes I've tried, the ones that work the best in balancing recoil negation vs bulk and ugly are the CNC warrior cross brake and the modified two chamber ak-74 style brake, with enlarged compensator holes at 12 o'clock.

The razorback brake works very well also, and is quite compact, and I might get laughed at for this, but the Tapco ak-74 brake is INCREDIBLY effective, although it only comes in a phosphate finish that doesn't match every gun finish.

Just put an AAC Brakeout on my 700. Not much reduction in felt recoil, but it's loud as hell.

Now I need to figure out how hard it is to remove Rockset.:sad20:

I could see that working more a flash hider but there are no baffles for gas redirection.

Supposed to be a combination hider/brake.

I got it to mount a can in the future, but shooting after installing it last weekend, my groups opened up significantly. Not sure if it was the brake or swapping the 168gr Sierra MKs for 168gr Nosler CCs.

I want to remove the brake to see which variable caused this.

And it does redirect some gas. Saw the targets on the table next to me blowing violently when I fired.
