Any information on the .284 Winchester?

My grandfather gave me all the contents of his gunsmith business from when it closed about 20 years ago in PA and I have been just getting through some of it. Now I'm no gunsmith and I would attempt to do what the artist do but I can sort out that there is everything needed to build a bolt action .284 Winchester rifle in there. Has anyone ever had a rifle or experience with the .284? I know it falls into the 7mm club somewhere....

Beautiful round AND rifle. Call it the first 7mm "short mag". Perfect for a lever or short action auto.

.284 cartridge + H4831sc + Berger 180gr Hybrid = very capable long range setup.
Watch the OAL of the cartridge - the big 7mm heavies are LONG, meaning you quickly can run into pressure problems.... work up the reloads slowly.
