  • I know you're inviting a little discussion with your friendly neighborhood police officer, but anybody open carrying long guns in Delaware? I believe they have to be unloaded if in a vehicle, but what about walking around?

Personally, I would not walk around with a long gun regardless of whether the law said I could. As noted, it would invite at the minimum a discussion with the local fuzz. I've not heard of anyone in DE doing it, but in other places it's been done and it's always been more of making a statement that about personal protection.

If I am out and about and see someone carrying a long gun in public, my Spidey sense is gonna be off the charts wondering what this bozo plans to do with his rifle/shotgun in a public place. You can discreetly OC a handgun and I have seen plenty of folks do it. You cannot discreetly OC a long gun. The unwanted attention it would bring just isn't worth it.

If you try it make sure you can legaly buy the same long gun now. If it falls under what DE thinks is an assault weapon than it is a felony to carry it in public even if concealed.
