You answered your own question. It was designed as a carbine for the Czech military. The pistol version is just a temporary US solution until you properly re-SBR it:D

True. I certainly think it's better this way and I "assume" it would feel better braced. It feels more like an MP-5 then a short barreled rifle. I have not shot it yet but it's far more comfortable.

I can't wait to pick my Scorpion up tomorrow. I got all of my extra parts in the mail and they are waiting to be put on their host. Is there anything that I missed or you would recommend?

    Micro red dot
    Yeti grip
    Safety delete switch
    buffer tube adapter
    shockwave blade for arm support

HERA Arms Side Folding Unit would be the icing on the cake.

If you ever decide on a light I highly recommend the streamlight HL long gun kit. You can mount it on top of the gun if you remove the front sight and it's low profile enough that it will clear your red dot if you use a riser. The pressure pad mounts on the opposite side rail like it was made for it.

Thanks DEV. Just ordered the HERA Side Folding Unit.

No problem I forgot one more item you may or may not be interested in.
    http://www.parkermountainmachine.com/store/c46/CZ_Ceska_Zbrojovka.html

If you do decide to use a QD and you are right handed I would have it located on left (opposite side of the ejection side). I would also have your HERA arms SFU fold towards the ejection port side.

This is so if you use a single point sling you can position the brace in a natural motion without having the sling interfere.

I saw the QD mounts however I'm thinking about using the Thordsen Customs buffer tube attachment.

I don't know how well that will work out for you if the QD mount is located after the HERA SFU and the sling follows the movement of the brace tube as it gets folded. This might cause you problems. The QD mount should be on the body of the gun so it doesn't interfere with the folding action. Just a thought.

You have to pay to play

Funny thread on facebook, where someone asked what one costs.

People started throwing in the cost of the accessories: grips, stock, fixed sights, red dots, lasers, flash lights, slings, charging handles, silencers, NFA stamps, mags, ceracote, QD mounts, future trigger job, 3 lug mount and you can easily spend twice the cost of the gun.

You can spend some serious coin on accessories for any gun. Sometimes I hate this hobby.

I think It's one of those guns that's self fulfilling. It's low cost makes it popular and its popularity fuels the aftermarket to address some of it's cosmetic shortcomings. I think CZ is hitting their stride and possibly making an investment in the overall brand. It's really something when the Sig forums are making their own appreciation threads for the Scorpion.

The company that brought you the AK style safety, now has a trigger "kit" to reduce the pull to 6#
    And it's cheap $8.50
    http://www.hbindustries.net/shop/CZ-Scorpion-S1-Drop-in-6lb-Trigger-Spring-Kit.html

too late, I hear they are sold out.

I was able to order one without a problem. For the price it's worth it as a temporary fix until CGW comes out with their version which is a redesigned part along with a spring kit that will hopefully address the take up and reset.

I just got done with installing the springs. It's no Geissele but it's a major improvement.
It feels like a two stage trigger with some take up however there is still a perceivable creep if you are really looking for it. It's crisper and for some reason that should not be related cocking bolt back is a lot easier and a lot less stagy.
The only thing I would like is a smoother first stage on the take up and maybe a little crisper but at that point it would be a target trigger which is probably not what this gun is all about.

I also just finished putting in the HB industries spring kit. I also polished all the contact points of the trigger group and its down to about a 5 1/2 pound trigger. Leaps and bounds above the stock trigger. I agree there is some creep in the trigger but I can live with it.

Now off to try it out.

Will update when I get back from the range.

**also, if anybody wants the aftermarket grip from 'YETI WERKS' let me know ASAP. I was able to source one from someone else so I don't need it. I will forward the info from YETI so you can buy it from them.

Is cocking your gun easier. Also please let me know how it shoots.

maybe a little bit. If you have not polished the trigger group I STRONGLY suggest that you do it. It was like a new gun with just the polished trigger group, but now with the added springs it is a really decent trigger.

I was thinking of polishing my trigger as I have done on some guns in the past but I just plan to buy the CGWs trigger solution when it becomes available to replace these springs. At that point in time I will polish if it needs it.
Don't get me wrong I like the way this trigger feels but I want it to feel like my CGWs PO7 duty trigger upgrade which feels like a stiff wall before it breaks. David at CGW mentioned that the trigger pack needs a redesigned part which is currently being manufactured.
Surprisingly the reset on the Scorpion is not all that bad.
