Has the same requirements for training that the CCDW permit has, including 100 rounds of live fire and an FBI fingerprint background check and a background investigation.
It appears the NRA instructors will not be allowed to do CDO the training. The State Police will be training everyone.

Who will provide the firearm to an applicant when they do not have one. The police range is tied up training officers and requalifying them.
The bill provides that the police will seize any firearms purchased under the permit if it is revoked. It also prohibits them from keeping a registry or list.

Would be interesting to see someone just barely fail the shooting requirement by one shot and take it to court for being denied their 2A right. There is no requirement of expertise to exercise your rights under the constitution.

Where are the police who have declared they won't violate the constitutional rights of citizens at the command of their masters?

How are the state police going to train everyone? Seems like a clear play to make it more difficult (aside from requiring the permit) to get the training.
The state police will view the training as a low priority I'm sure.

Keep in mind the quote from the majority opinion in Bruen: "Any permitting scheme can be put to abusive ends." That's SCOTUS telegraphing what will happen should a case on one of these types of laws get to them. The hard part will be the loooooonnnnnggg delays in getting to them through District and Appellate Court levels.

Surely the dsp will jump right on this. /sarc

a story linked To one of adit’s recent posts said something about dsp being short a number of officers. Difficult recruiting and retaining.

maybe some of their civil employees will set up the program? But I wouldn’t hold my breath, or advise anyone else to do so either.

In a case like this the lawsuit should target the state to explain why this law is necessary now. As I see it, all this is doing is forcing a firearms course on the same group of people (lawful non-prohibited persons), which essentially is trying to cut down on accidents.
Has there been an uptick in accidental shootings in the state?
