Just a general query about what seems to be the favorite grip for the AK.

CAA is my favorite hard plastic one. I tried the hogue, but it didn't feel right for a rear grip. SAW grips are stupid.

My choice of wood AK grips would be Iron Wood Design's M76 grip. I'm not an AK fanboy and before I bought my NHM-91 (with the stupid thumbhole stock) I'd only ever fired one that I took off a Somali who clearly didn't need his any longer. As a SAW gunner among other things the stupid SAW grip fits my larger than average hands and is more comfortable than any small standard sized AK pistol grip, which seem to have been designed for the women who pick the rifles up after the guys shooting them get dropped.

US Palm is alright. Maybe a little over-rated for the price.

Ergo works alright. I like the rubber overmold, and the finger swells are not overly annoying.

The CAA modular grip is way too fat and over-engineered. I don't recommend it.

If I were building another one, I'd be looking at the Magpul AK+ grip and furniture.

The finger swells on the Hogue are bit overwhelming, IMHO. I'd like it better if it were straight.

Magpul > US palm or any other, good traction, good shape, good fit. Only reason I would choose a wood or Bakelite was if it was correct for an original mil-spec build.
