a bit of an Eddie Haskle
I know I stand to take heat in this thread. I currently have (2) 8mm mausers, both on large ring actions. This latest one is a FN receiver 1930 model greek mauser, which some of the crest can still be seen, but it is faint. The bolt, stock and floor plate and barrel are Turkish. The only other greek part I can see that is correct to the receiver is the ladder sight, which has the correct marking.
I seek to take one of my two mausers and rebarrel it to a 9.3x62.
My question is: IF I am going break the C and R code and rebarrel one and change calibers, which one might be the best choice?
The greek is rare, but since it doesn't have any other matching parts, I'm not sure its valuable (my search shows between 25k and 50k made) since mausers number upwards of 18 million in all the variants.
the other large ring I have is a german k98 large ring which has been literally scrubbed of all markings by its previous owner, but is numbers matching with no import mark and a duffel cut stock.
I am uploading photos of the greek one as we speak.
At the risk of opening up a can of worms - thoughts?
