The fore-end is a slightly different color than the stock, but its all intact. Everything I can find says it w as made between 1926 and 1935. I've never shot anything that old, but everything is tight and intact. Any experience with these?

I had a 1938 Stevens 5100, which is a distant relative. I shot it plenty, but it developed a crack in the stock at the reciever when I thought I would shoot both barrels at once. Shoot one at a time and you should be fine.

2.75 inch chambers, so no three inchers. There are 2.75 in Magnum loads, but I would err on the side of caution and stay away from them.

Give the barrel a good swabbing. Make sure she locks up good and tight and have fun with her.

She's a utility gun, not a high end collectable. Shoot it often and have a ball with it.

I broke it down and gave it a good cleaning already. Stock loads are all you need for pheasants and skeet anyway - thanks for the info.
