Cold and windy today, so instead of going outside and being productive I decided to give my C&R rifles and carbines a quick inspection and light lubing. I also got 2 slings from CMP for the 2 garands that were missing them so I did a bit of slingin'. Afterwards, they all wanted to pose for a pic, so I obliged.

Great collection and thanks for sharing!

Where did you get the scope and mount for your k31? I've been thinking of putting a scope on mine (it is super accurate but those tiny iron sights don't agree with my eyes).

Scope is a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5X14. Excellent glass for the money.

You have to us 3/8" clamp rings, which are usually for rimfire guns. Make sure to get solid rings; I forget where I bought mine but they had good reviews for use with centerfire rifles.

Nice collection, what did you use for lube on metal and stock?

On the stocks I have used BLO in the past, but I didn't work on any stocks today. For the metal, I ran a bore snake with Hoppes thru the barrels, and I use synthetic motor oil for other metal parts. I have left the oil bottle uncapped in a shelf in my garage for a long time, so it basically has no smell.

For my handguns I use oil on joints/springs and Wilson Combat grease on high-friction areas like slides/frames.

While we're on the subject of stocks: I'm going back and forth on my Springfield 1903's stock. It is good shape, but I really loved how my Springfield M1's stock turned out when I did the DNA / BLO cleaning/recoating. I welcome any of your thoughts on pros/cons of doing the DNA / BLO treatment on the '03.

That '03 stock looks good, but a little dry. Does it have cartouches?

I would be very conservative with it. I'd avoid the DNA and just clean gently with mineral spirits, if anything. Mainly, just linseed oil, "boiled" or raw.
