Well, back to the ORIGINAL idea for this thread and that was a running update
    of the CCW application process.

Not really too much of a chance to update on anything other than I received a letter in the mail today from MSP and it had this funny credit card sized object in it. Give you all 1 guess as to what it was :party29::party29:

I had heard it was taking upwards of 4 months for MSP to issue permits and mine took just about 5 weeks to the day.

Here's the breakdown of the series of events:

    2/8/09 : Mailed application
    2/26/09: References called
    2/27/09: Interview with trooper
    3/13/09: Permit received

Hmmmmm! wonder what my next purchase will be??

What did you list as your reason for requesting a permit?

What limitations if any are listed on the reverse (do you have a GOLDEN ticket)?

    enquiring minds want to know

my question is, what was the interview for? The instructors course or the carry permit?
When I got a permit (25 years ago) there was no interview.

Interview was for the carry permit. It's my understanding that is standard
    procedure now.

it has been standard procedure for sometime.

So, what were your restrictions? Fess up or I'll drop a dime to you know who. :D

Got me by the short hairs on that one:innocent0

Reason for permit: Deposits, transportation of large quantities of firearms(I'm a firearms safety instructor)

Restrictions: Carrying of business currency or while engaged in business as the owner.

Seems pretty wide open. Not a "Golden Ticket" but some pretty high quality silver!!

What I meant was that if you become certified to teach the course, are you then allowed to be issued a MD Handgun Permit as well.

Kinda be interesting if we had more "instructors" than "students" in the state.

If it's anything like how permits for security guards work (I would assume this based on posts from the OP), you will likely have to prove that you are in the business of teaching these classes (can provide legal documents such as contracts for the work, receipts for instruction, etc.) to satisfy the MSP.
