Mossberg 590/835 barrels interchangeable?

Like the title said are the M590 and Mossberg 835 barrels interchangeable? Obviously there's the loss of being able to chamber 3.5" shells either way (M590 w/ 835 barrel or 835 with 590 barrel) but will it work?

No. The 590 is a 500 with an extended mag tube and barrel that attatches to it's end. You would need a 500 mag tube to use 500 barrels. The 835,935,930 has a mag tube setup similar to an 870 that is open ended and extendable.

No, the 590 is definitely a capped magazine like the 870.

Not sure when they made the switch but they still appear to need the correct mag tube which is an easy swap. I am still pretty confident that 3 1/2" chambered barrels will not fit the 3" action.

I'm to understand that the 835 shot barrel is "overbored" to the diameter of a 10ga. This is why you can not shoot slugs through the 835 or 935 shot barrels. I have both and have slug barrels for each.

As I understand it, you can only use 835 barrels on the 18.5" model 590A1.
