Are revolvers allowed at Cresap range in Frederick?

Rules say nothing specific about revolvers. It is stated that while unattended firearm should be unloaded with action open and magazine removed. How does it translate to revolvers?

I am thinking to bring a lockable box, and keep a revolver in the locked box during cease fire. Is it the right way to go?

    Bring your revolver.
    No problems.

During the cease fire just leave the cylinder open. - Action is open.
    No lock box necessary.

Yeah, i shoot my big revolver pretty much whenever I'm up there. My cylinder likes to close itself, so I just stick a piece of spent brass or something in there to keep it open enough.

For solid frame revolvers (e.g., Colt SAA, Nagant), I just pull out the cylinder. It only takes a second to remove/replace the cylinder and leaves no doubt about the gun being empty and not functional.

Never had any issues shooting my S&W 38 spl at Cresap.

Like the others say just follow the rules and all will be good. They are very strict which is a very good thing. I only wish they would allow some sort of rapid fire.

If there were rapid fire there would be a line from Cresap to Baltimore waiting to get in.

That is a very common request.

I know it is a "bummer" but I don't think that rule will ever change.

There would also be lots bullets going way too high, and there are low flying planes right over there, so that would not be good. I have a friend who used to work at Gilberts, and he said people there would do rapid fire and keep shooting even though their gun is pointing in the air way off target. He said it was really annoying because he would have to come and clean up all the pieces from the ceiling because it would get shot up so bad. I can definately understand why Cresap has the no rapid fire rule, especically since it's outdoors where the bullets have nothing to stop them.

    rapid fire?

I understand the concern- but it would be nice to be able to actualy DO the NRA BULLSEYE program. That does not seem like asking too much?
