My son lives in Baltimore County and needs a spring kit bought and installed for a SIG P228.
He came to visit me last week and we did a range visit.
He had multiple light strikes with factory ammunition.
Any SIG law enforcement P series armorers in the vicinity that can do this for a fair price or a gunsmith?

Engage Armaments in Rockville has a very reliable gunsmith who has done lots of jobs for me over the years. But I am sure others will chime in with gunsmiths that are closer to you in Baltimore County.

Springs should be an easy swap. Continental Arms in Timonium could probably do it. I know they’ve got a few gunsmiths on staff that can do light work like that.

That said, if you or your son are reasonably handy, I’d bet you could swap those parts out easily yourself. Youtube is your friend.

I second this. The Sig 220 series of guns are very easy to work on.

    Two questions

    1) Did he give his pistol a thorough cleaning? A few light strikes could be just dirt and fouling

    2) If he has worn out the springs from heavy shooting then maybe take this opportunity to upgrade the OEM springs to Wolff's.
Spring Kits are available from Wolff, Brownell's, et al retailers.

If you can field strip a pistol, you can probably change your own springs but ymmv

I just sent off my used LE Sig P229R to Sig Sauer for a complete cleaning, spring kit and sights replacement for $150. I'm patiently waiting for its return, usually two weeks. I also added the one-piece grip and large gun case to the job. They send the shipping label, and it comes back to you. Click on this link and scroll down to "Sig Service Package"

This is a good service and really good value. The sights alone are about $99 so the installation, cleaning and spring replacement are about $50. He might want to ask how much to install the Short Reset Trigger as well, in my opinion it is a worthwhile change. You don't have to go through an FFL so the process is quick and easy.
