Since they already know who owns it, the rifle should eventually make it back to the correct owner ... but it may take a year, or so.

Yep, I bet it stays as evidence forever. Unless the owner has the time and money to fight to get it back.

Wow, I am glad they found that rifle. Hopefully they will find the rifle that was stolen from our own stu929 next.
