You're right. The posts in this thread, as well as Aray's first hunt thread are serious motivation.

Shot this doe opening morning. Somebody blew out it's back leg with a slug. Put it out of it's misery. She was the second wounded deer I saw that morning, but I couldn't get a shot on the first one.

Good work man! Was her wound fresh?

Thanks! Second doe this year. Looking for a buck, but I still have time and meat in the freezer!

Definitely fresh. She was hit that morning. After I shot her, I backtracked here to see if anyone would be following a blood trail onto the farm I hunt. She started bleeding about 20 yards before I hit her, but not much before that. She would have died eventually, but it would have been slow and she would not have been recovered.

I lost my primo rifle hunting honey hole so i'm out for a while.

I made the best of it and went cat fishing on the lower Potomac with a friend. Heres a pic from when we went out last week. Same results today but it was cold and rainy so we didnt break out a camera

And much thanks to the fellow MDS member that helped me field dress them and get them into the truck.

An awesome display of kindness and generosity.

Took a tender young buck this evening. No antlers at all yet but not too small either. My 13 and 10 year old helped me track the blood trail for about 60 yds and helped me drag him out. The 10 year old then held the flashlight while I field dressed it. He was really into the anatomy. It was definitely a cool moment. Sorry didn't snap a pic.
