Trooper mk iii manufacture date

I am trying to date my fathers colt trooper mk iii but I cant seem to find a list of serial numbers versus dates anywhere. Anyone got any ideas?

The Trooper MKIII was made from 1969 and discontined in 1983 after the Trooper Mark V was released in 1982 if I recall my dates correctly .

Yes I did know that but I was wondering if by using my serial number I could get an actual year like 1973 or such

Funny you should ask this.

I own a Colt Trooper MKIII and called Colt at 800-962-2658. Gave them the serial # and they gave me the date of manufacture right then and there.
