The Secret Service is putting on an IDPA/USPSA style pistol match on June 10 and 11, 2010.
    http://www.secretservice.gov/pistolmatch/

The match is open to Active Duty Military and Law Enforcement, using duty issue pistols, or of the type typical of police/military issue (Glock/SIG/M&P/XD/HK/etc) in defensive calibers (9, 357SIG, 40, 45)

150 slots are available, and there is no match fee. It is FREE
    .

The rules and regulations can be found here
    http://www.secretservice.gov/pistolmatch/Match_Rules_and_Regulations.doc

Match registration can be found here
    http://www.secretservice.gov/pistolmatch/registration_form.doc

Instructions for filling them out are here
    http://www.secretservice.gov/pistolmatch/Instructions.doc
(basically fill it out, and mail to
    usss2010pistolmatch@usss.dhs.gov, as a file attachment)

This will be a "practical/defensive" pistol match. I say "IDPA/USPSA" style because the rules mimic both sports, but allow for non-members and first-time competitors to easily understand them (hopefully).

Questions can be addressed to the same email (or just reply here)
    usss2010pistolmatch@usss.dhs.gov

PS: The stages were all designed in 3D by yours truly, and will be placed on the website as soon as possible.

You LEOs and Military ADs ought to jump on it like fat kid on a twinkie! Great Match.

I was an industry sponsor back in 96 or 97. Glad to see that they brought the match back.

Rob, I've done a little IDPA, would like to do some more now.

I'm retired now, so I seriously doubt they would let me compete, but I sent them an email although it's a long shot.

Do you know anyone there? Could you put in a good word for me?

Where can one go to shoot these kinds of targets here in MD for practice, with or without this comp?

    Thx!!

We didn't have the match for a while now but it's finally come back due to the hard work of guys like Rob. I'll be working the courses that day, so I'm sure I'll see some of you guys there.

You have PM on the match info.

As for the targets, go here

You can also buy them at Delmarva Sporting Clays when they have them in stock.

I'm retired, damn. You AD and LEO types who might be interested in the SS would have the oportunity to show your stuff. Don't think for a second they aren't looking for new recruits.

I received some positive feedback from the USSS, unfortunately they are intentionally keeping it small, but might open it up in the future.

"As we are already at 30% capacity, and continuing to recieve applications every hour, the decision was made to stick with our original limitation of Active Duty Military, and Law Enforcement Officers w/ arrest powers

In future years, we hope to grow the match to a level that we can include retired applicants, but our goal this year is to keep it small, limited, and simple.....the exact opposite of what eventually killed our long running dynasty of PPC matches.

As an update, we are just about half-full at this point, after going through the applications recieved over the weekend.

One more stage draft as a teaser (spelling error "drawn" should read "draw")

    There is always next year.

We currently sit at max capacity, with about a 20 person waitlist.
