Most recently? I had to run about 20 shells of 3.5" Black Cloud through an AL 391 Xtrema2 without the kickoff recoil reducer.... ow.

The M44 Mosin carbine kicks like a mule, and reminds me that it is not only truly high powered (as opposed to the left's definition of "high powered"), and a small carbine to boot, every time that I shoot it.

I once got a shiner from a scope on a bolt action .30-06, but that was my own fault. I have an old Stevens break barrel 12 gauge with a 28-inch barrel, and if one shoots a round of trap with that puppy, one is reminded of it the following day...

...I'm not too proud to admit that I put a recoil pad on both the Stevens and the Mosin.

Shooting a 3.5 Inch benelli Nova 12ga at sea Ducks with 3.5 inch #6s, never do that again. My arm was purple from the shoulder to the elbow.

I have the same gun without the kick off, 3.5 inch shells are like getting punched in the face.

Also, Shot my 1903A3 today and my back is sore, shoulder doesn't hurt, just sore muscles in the middle of my back.

I won a single shot 10 guage shotgun while going to school out in Nashville when i was 18. It was a National Wild Turkey Federation expo at Opryland. Had the gun shipped to an FFL friend of mine and took the thing out one day when i got home. I tuned my whole shoulder purple after shooting that thing one evening. I sold the thing after my one day shoot since i had no use for it and i needed money for school. I regret the decision to this day.

My great grandfather's hunting Winchester 1895 in .30/40 Krag. While the load isn't all that powerful per se (essentially a .30-30) there is essentially nothing to the stock but a sliver of wood and a steel butt plate.

    Still fun though

A twelve gauge with magnum loads. We shot about fifty rounds...I was pretty black and blue. We stopped because it started to hurt.
