Believe it or not, of all places that is illegal in WV (as well as in most of the country)....but in Maryland first cousins can marry. Maybe the cousin jokes were on us the whole time. :o

How come no wv posts ??

No time to post....the fires in the stills keep burning out and needing tending.

(Note: I am a proud land owner and have ancestral roots in WV and poke fun at my adopted state with only loving respect)

I'm looking at hopefully purchasing 5 acres or so in WV to retire to later on. I know the gun laws shouldn't change much in WV they practically hand you one when you buy property.

I got pulled over by a WV state trooper once. He asked, "you got any alcohol or firearms in your vehicle?". I said "no SIR!". He said "Wait right here...." A couple of minutes later he comes back, hands me a case of beer and a .22, and says "Welcome to West Virginia, enjoy your stay!".

    j/k... :D

    Q. How do you know the tooth fairy is from WV?

    A. If she was from anywhere else she'd be called the "Teeth Fairy".

Went through the only redlight in the middle of a State forest in WV. We didn't know what to do, so we followed the law. The light was red so we stopped. (Father-in-law was born there and in the car), we waited and the light turned green. Passed some coal tipples and came upon a road construction project. Glad we stopped on the curvy back lane road with the family. Love it in WV for the land and the nice people.

Stayed there many times with no worries. John Denver knew it. Wife's
Granddad may have helped write the song, but you know how that goes. I believe it though.

    Hi, Just joined the forum.
I was born and raised in West Virginia, but moved away 25 years ago. Just recently purchased a large plot of land back there in the mountains where my nearest neighbor is a mile away. The land came with a 200 year old hand hewn log house on it. I can sit on the back porch and shoot 300 yards to the tree line all day long with no worry in the world. Sure beats the crap out of Maryland!

What gets me though, is that even though I am a home/land owner there, since I am not a full time resident, I cannot get a Concealed Carry in West Virginia, as they don't issue non-resident permits or recognize any non-resident permits from other states. That really sucks!

Although you can open carry just about anywhere in the state!

When I move back there for good, that is one law (non-resident CCW) I plan on working full time on!

    Pushrod,

    Welcome aboard!

What part of the Mountain State is your property in? We've got some property in Greenbrier and Monroe Counties and I hear you about the relative amount of freedom down there.

When we talk to the neighbors (from waaaaaaay down the road) nobody ever bats an eye at us carrying our pistols on our hips. A truly civilized place.
