I have a chance for a 1917 Colt 1911. Good to fair condition. Guy won't name a price, wants an offer. Any idea of what would a fair offer on this pistol would be?

the Value depends on many factors:
    Finish
    Wear
    markings
    Pitting
    Original Mag?
    Any Mods?
    Lanyard loop intact?

These usually start around 1K, average is about 1.3K. You can also contact Colt and request for a history letter. If the serial number is intact, they can give you a a bit of history about it. ( they may charge for the research, about 100 bucks, but that adds value to the firearm)

    Thanks for the info.
I was thinking $1000 myself, just as a ball park guess. I'll have more info on it later. "Good to fair" condition has me wondering.
    Thanks again.
