Now this has me thinking.... I have a Bushmaster 20''. I might give that up for another M1. But you could never offer me anything for me to trade or give up my M1. I would just hang onto the M1 if I were you. Clean it up really nice and hang it on the wall if its going to sit.

agreed. every magpul loving tacticool moron has 10 ARs all for different 'purposes'. There is nothing classic or stylish about an AR, but a Garand has that charm, an old hard working aura about it. i have 2 ARs, id sooner GIVE them away before id sell my garand.

Keep the Garand. Not only is it harder to find and they just dont make them and ar 15s come out the production line everyday. Your garand is a piece of war history and will be more valuable. An ar15 is just designed for civilians to get close to an m16 frame without having to go through all the crap to aquire the needs and funds for the full auto/burst. Not knocking the ar at all its a great rifle by all means but its easily accesible your garand not so much. Hold on to that old baby. And btw most garands I come across at the rifle range are beat up and is fair to not so good shape. If yours is as pretty as you say DEF dont let it go.

And not to mention everytime I go to the range I see atleast 4-5 Ar15's i seen maybe 1-2 garands in the past 2 years. And why would you want to get rid of the BANG PING and everyone around you says HOORAH some ones firing a Garand.

Retro AR's have the same charm in my opinion, early Vietnam era M16 clones are very different than the tactical builds that are most common. People are very anal these days about correct parts from the era

There is something special about the Garand: there is no other rifle quite like it. When you step up to the line with an M1 Garand, people will turn their heads and take notice. Strong men will respect you. Beautiful women will fall at your feet. The enemies of freedom will flee in dismay.

My little Mosin nagant carbine turns heads LOL. But yes well agreed with you the garand is one of a kind. They are loved and awed upon everywhere. I love all your statements though pretty funny but cool at the same time.

I wouldn't let go of the Garand, you'll likely regret it later as someone said. You can slowly build your AR to your preferences and be happy with both.

+1! Love my old slab sided Colt SP1. Would kill for an original Armalite (need to sell off a big chunk of the collection or start buying lottery tickets for this one!).

While I have made gun for gun trades an AR would not be something I would consider.I have considered listing one of my Garands but the responses to threads like these keeps me from doing so.I have only two rifles off the top of my head that would work for a Garand trade and neither of them would be an Ar.
