It also suggests that they are thinking about taking them out of play. I see some hope. Not much, but some. Some hope from the staffer that told the moms that if you cannot get everything you want this year, there is always next year, and they should be happy with incremental restrictions.

I'm fine with the mental health restrictions and handgun training. Let's compromise and scrap the rest.

Wonder what legislation got passed to secure our schools and foster education.

I'm not fine with handgun training or any other restrictions. The lack of handgun training in MD is not a problem, criminals are.

Yeah, but they NEED to pass something to save face. If you HAD to pick from the list, what would you pick? Just the mental health restrictions? Me, I think EVERYBODY in the entire state should be required to take firearms training so NOBODY will be scared of guns anymore.

In that case basic firearms safety should be part of the public school curriculum. There is no need to have actual firearms in the schools, just basic firearms safety rules, operation, and Maryland laws concerning firearms.

They don't NEED to save face, they need to do what is right and vote down the bill.

Fear is a small % of the issue; there are just many people out there with the mentality if they aren't into something then you don't need it either.

The sole biggest problem is the drug dealers/criminals/gang members killing each other and it never ever gets mentioned. Eliminate that equation and very few people are killed by violence. Politicians are scared to even go there!

You can still call it the firearms safety act of 2013. You scrap the whole thing as it stands and in its place you put amendments on that hold criminals that commit crimes with firearms completely accountable. It would make Maryland safer. The Governor could get his bill passed in name and all firearms owners would be happy, minus the criminals that is. I say do this.

Wrong! Compromise is why we are where we are. NO MORE COMPROMISE!!!
Our freedom and liberty are "compromised" away a little at a time year by year. Infringing the law abiding citizen is not the answer for "safety or common sense".

The Baltimore resident who believes this is the problem. Nothing in the govenor's bill/law will slow the level of murders in this state. The delusion that it will stop murderers in Baltimore or anywhere else needs to be addressed aggressively as a horrible trick on our citizens.

my main talking point with the reps. why attach your name to an unconstitutional destruction of my constitutional rights when the bill does nothing to stop crime?

...And to all those a$$hole "I know whats best for you" pinhead libtards, who constantly ridicule us and say that we are being paranoid about incrementalism, I can only quote one of their own:

....said Pat Bruce, Anderson’s chief of staff. “Something is better than nothing, and if you can’t get everything you want this year, then there is always next year.”

That quote stood out in BOLD 40 point font to me also. The ultimate plan is death by a thousand bills.

I dont recall it being mentioned, but according to the Baltimore City police, in 2012 82% of homicide victims had a prior criminal record, and 69% had drug arrests. 40% were arrested for a prior gun crime. oh, and of the known suspects, 70% had a criminal record already.

How many mindless dingbats actually showed up yesterday? The media used the same term "dozens" to describe our turnout on Saturday that filled all of the galleries and hallways.

You speak of Maryland's protected class of citizens, the Convicted Felon. No laws will ever apply to this class of citizen, they have already proved that Laws mean nothing to them. They can't even touch a bullet legally, so MOM thinks they will all get a Handgun License?
On second thought, Our Law Makers are going to give a Drivers License to illegal aliens, so why not give convicted felons a Handgun License?
