I thought it illustrative of the general obtuseness of the legislators that Vallario seemed not to realize that FFLs already do a NICS at POS for long gun purchases, and assigning it for handguns would be no different.

He seriously seemed to think that there was either NO check done on them, or they went through MSP too!

They don't know, understand or interpret the laws, they just make and enact them, and then cover their tracks when people complain after-the-fact. That's why they call it "sausage making." If a few bits of this or that get in, or their is some overlap, or shortcoming, not to worry because in the grand scheme of things all will taste good to the less discriminating customer. Go eat your sausage and don't sweat the details. :sad20:

Grrrrr!!! Stop saying her name... has the same effect every time I see it. :D

I won't but a little birdie told me you would of had to change to little sparkler if she got a hold of you :D

I was for the referendum. It failed , time to move to the next tactic.

    You mean Frank Conaway, Jr.?

Read his book and all your questions will be answered:

Baptist Gnostic Christian Eubonic Kundalinion Spiritual Ki Do Hermeneutic Metaphysics: The Word: Hermeneutics

    From the description:

My reseach of the Holy Bible through Rev. S. Green's Baptist Temple incorporated with the martial arts style of Death Ki Do under Grand Master L. R. Butcher came in union to form the sub style of Spiritual Ki Do

My birth name is Frank Melvin Conaway, Jr., but among fellow spititual people I am known as Meta.

As dumb as they seem you would need to have stated it as fact. Then they may have caught it.

Conaway asked me directly in the hallway if I seriously get out of my car everytime I come back into Maryland and disarm, lock up my weapon...

My response: YES, it's against the law to not to do this"

He asked me if I was really worried about being pulled over and said how ridiculous it was having to do that.

He was shocked that people with carry permits from other states have to do this twice in 8 miles, when coming through certain routes.

My response: it is against the law to not do this. We have no choice. We are not criminals.

I don't think he will help us repeal SB-281, but I think he can be/is on our side for a lot of other bills.

I'd like to think most officials mean well, but have no idea of the further implications from their bills. They don't even know the laws their colleagues are making and have made.

RacknRoll, that was SUE PAYNE that was sitting next to me for quite a while and I borrowed her papers for you to see what bills were coming up. I KNEW she had an attitude when I asked to see them and then she was "more than happy" to let us see them. Sneaky little, you know what ;)

What is the story on Delegate Conway? He seemed very agreeable to a lot of our testimony. I'm tempted to reach out to him to try to sway him further.

Interesting sidenote...a couple years ago, paul came out in testimony and let it be known that a certain member of conway's family was able to use political pull to secure a carry permit for himself. As one of the more anti-gun polticians in the state, it was a big "awwww no he di'nt" moment.

Conway would be interested in looking out for lower-level urban-class folks. There's a good deal there that carry regardless of the law because they've seen more criminals in their travels committing crimes than police patroling. I'll stop short on speculating about conway's choices in this matter...:innocent0.

If we can't replace him with someone more pro-gun, the next best thing is to get him to pretend he's pro-gun and act accordingly to ward off negatives on election day. We're going to need a lot more melanin in the seats to truly reach him I think. A room full of middle-aged white dudes aren't exactly his constituents. It's part of the reason we'll fail if we make this a D vs. R issue and part of the reason why "2A is a civil right"/minorities and women are the fastest growing demographic are important things. We may not change what he believes, but he's in polyticks and will do what it takes to get re-elected. If we convince him being anti-2A effects his election chances, he'll listen.

the link above points out a little personal motivation to take offense to the, "people illegally carrying can only be up to no good", line....conaway's dad got busted illegally carrying when his permit he obtained through political channels expired...it's cool though, they retroactively re-upped his permit to get rid of the charges.

I meant to say... 'Hypothetically... If I did x' since MD wont give us CC...

Bottom line: I would rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6

(Still I will be more carful when I speak... On tape... next time)

You "covered your ass". I was in the "on deck" panel. When I heard you say that, it got my attention REAL FAST. Forget the exact wording after you said it, something like "If I were to choose to do that" or along those lines, but you did it without missing a beat and I remember saying to myself, "whew, glad she got herself out of that one".

You got out of it faster than you got in to it.

Once the dust settles, will the written testimony be available on the MD web site? It sure would be nice to see what was submitted by the anti's.

As for the crazy lady, in the future we need to have several folks available on deck so if she pulls this again, they simply walk up to the table after she's seated and defer to her first so she doesn't have the last say.

Glad to have met several of you and while I'd rather not spend a lot more time in Annapolis, look forward to the next round. It will be interesting to see how many of the bills will be reported out of this committie.

woman from charles county with daughter in a wheelchair…in open plan school…

her daughter is vulnerable and asking for who defends her daughter in school

That woman sat next to me in the back. She had never been to Annapolis and had never testified before. I forget her name (I really suck at names) but she was there to testify only for HB36. She was terrified, but feels so strongly about it that she was moved to come do something about it.

We talked a fair amount. She was very apprehensive to "use" (my word, for lack of a better one) her daughter as a platform. When they were talking about the retired LEO's being allowed to carry in schools, she got very excited to support it, and turned to me to ask if she could testify for something she wasn't signed up for. I said absolutely. She jumped up, let out a nervous squeal, and testified. Very well I might add.

When she got back to the seat, she broke down as a flood of emotion hit her.

She sat next to me on the panel too when it was our turn, and she did great again.

I hope she shows up here at some point, I was honored to have sat next to her yesterday and that I had a chance to get to know her a bit. We have another one on our side.

Those are the very people we need to have testify. Between her, Jaquiline, and SNI, I think they were the most moving testimony. I can only hope the folks at the Big table listen.

FWPhoto. She gave a great testimony and later sent me a message with very kind words. She's an asset for our cause for sure.
