Hmmm. I am thinking maybe Hogan wanted to be in that "pickle". This action affords him the ability to say its beyond his ability to control. That, in turn, protects him from both the left leaning media and left politician's guaranteed attack on that move. That also provides him a bit of cover from the right't attack on him for inaction.

Please... This was grandstanding by one legislator.. against a great deal of advice to the contrary...yet somehow we don't attack the actual perpetrator...no we spin yarns to somehow excuse it.

    Amazing...

No previous bills required a state to change their licensing statutes. Only recognition of other states permits under Article IV of COTUS. No 10A violations ever. The Gov or GA would more than likely be forced to change something.

    Article IV COTUS

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

the only way we will have shall issue carry in the state of MD is if we flip the house of delegates and the MD senate. the MSP are so ingrained at the thought that gun=criminal if they don't have a badge its not going to change unless they are forced to. for however superior Governor Hogan is to whomever else the D establishment cesspool puts to run against him, he either lacks the political will or capital (or flat out lacks the desire) to A) educate himself about the BS going on, B) direct it to be fixed, or C) roll heads in the MSP until it is fixed.

It is as clear as day that there is a large contingent of hte MSP (especially at the liscencing division) that 100% believe that people should not be armed, and that they 100% believe that their job is easier, and the community is safter (and they are) if they can keep the gun=criminal mentality. if that wasn't the case, they would have officers that need to be retrained, rescind the brainwashing, and treat the subjects like citizens in this state. it definitely is partially we are superior to you so we get to have a gun and you don't, but i think it comes down to the fact that they are fully indoctrinated to be unable to get their mind away from "person carrying a gun" = criminal. and they certainly don't like that a person carrying a gun is probably not actually out being a criminal.

My surprise (or ignorance) is the depth of the disdain against armed citizens. I thought with Knaub gone, younger more reasonable troopers would surface. Sgt Durkee appears every bit as entrenched as Aaron was. It must be part of their resume.

Unfortunately young means educated in the post liberal utopia of public education.

Young means college educated in a liberal indoctrination center that most of our colleges and universities have become after public school where they were taught neither U.S. history or civics....so they don't know their history, they don't know their rights and they have been brainwashed to believe they don't have any and owe everything they have to the government...It's not disdain for armed citizens, it's much more sinister than that...it's about controlling the population without worrying about meaningful civil disobedience.

This is very true, many MSP Officers are vehemently opposed to second amendment rights as intended by the Founders and as commonly practiced by many states in America. They do not believe law-abiding "civilians" should be able to openly carry or conceal carry firearms without their permission irrespective of constitutional law; and the state's general assembly and leadership facilitates them in this endeavor. So the repression will continue, unless the judicial process can put an end to some of this; and so far it has not.

Considering Maryland has been passing anti-2A legislation since the 1960's; I don't see anything changing for the good anytime soon.

Remember the saying, enemies both foreign and domestic.

In my opinion, if Hillary is elected and goes forward with her threats to make gun ownership nearly impossible, make gun makers liable and make the NRA a terror organization all of this will come to a head nationally. We will have little recourse but to fight (not in court) if we wish to restore our 2A rights. If she stacks the SCOTUS with anti 2A justices (and that is her plan) you will see every pro 2A ruling reversed allowing states like Maryland to ban anything, up to and including civilian ownership of any firearms. So I ask you...how many of you are willing to fight for your rights and how many will hand them in if that happens?

Will there be a grouping of states where non-compliance is accepted or will every state government fall in line. That is the way you know where resistance is futile or not.

    American Redoubt.

"The American Redoubt is a political migration movement first proposed in 2011 by best-selling survivalist novelist and blogger James Wesley Rawles which designates three states in the northwestern United States (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming), and adjoining portions of two other states (eastern Oregon, and eastern Washington .."

I think Hogan has to do something for us in THIS term or he will loose some of the support he needs to win a second term. Ehrlich made that mistake and it cost him!
