The Katadyn Pocket, my favorite filter, is only $238.47. Expensive? Yes but $100 cheaper than you'll find it elsewhere. I've said it here before, it is, next to a Berkey, one of those must-have pieces of kit for anyone who preps or enters austere environments.

I have a couple Lifestraws and Katadyn pump and also a gravity fed bag which I like best , I fill the bag (dirty water) and it filters into a collapsible water jug . I like it as you can gather water for different periods of the day .

When a group of guys went to Oklahoma it worked perfectly .

Removing salts would be the biggest challenge. Even in the most arid regions of the world, this is not something any logical thinking person would consider.
