I just started collecting “Demo” knives. I had this one from 1986 and picked one up that was made by Camillus in 2003, shortly before they closed up shop. I also have a Queen Cutlery “Q 1986” Demo knife on the way.

Shoot, I used to have scads of those, they were in the Navy stock system, our supply guy would bring a half dozen back from the supply store rooms every now and then. A good "supply guy" (we called them the Repair Parts Petty Officer, RPPO for short), was worth his or her weight in gold! Don't believe I've ever seen a Queen version, please, when you get it, post a pic?
We'd get those TL29 Electricians Knives, too, mostly Camillus, but some other brands, too. I believe I've seen a Boker version, maybe Case, too.

I personally own a TL-29 that's marked "Klein Tools," but I'm pretty sure was made by Camillus, Colonial, or another maker. It's okay to fair quality, so I highly doubt Case. At a past job, we had a couple of TL-29s in the tool box, a newer production Camillus (very nice quaility) and a Queen. The Queen was sharp enough and had decent walk/talk, but it was finished very poorly. the lock looked like it was cut out of a brass sheet with tin snips, and the Delrin handle edges looked hand finished by an unsteady hand with a Dremel. If you would have told me that it was a fake made in China, I probably would have believed you.

Based on what I've seen, Queen only made demo knives for one year, 1986, and the quality of those knives was pretty inconsistent. Some have said that the springs were way too tight, fit/finish was pretty bad a times, and that the bottle opener wasn't functional. I hope it's not like that at all.

I'd love to find an Ontario version. They made them after Camillus went under, although they probably used Queen tooling (Servotronics owned Ontario and Queen at one time. Growing up in Western NY, my dad an I visited the Ontario factory in Franklinville and saw Queen stuff for sale in the factory store).

Here’s the Queen Demo knife. It’s sharper than the Camillus examples I have, with decent walk and talk. The bottle opener kinda sucks, but the rest of it seems to be somewhat well made, or at least better than I expected. The handle edges are quite sharp, so I hope using it wears down the sharp edges.

Mostly carry the Benchmade. Nice all around knife, use as steak knife etc.
The Spyderco with wave works excellent, carry that one for hiking/outdoors, very thick blade.

chooks9, thanks for the pic, go to know they are out there at least in some small numbers. 1986 huh? I would have been reporting to my first ship, the USS Holland down at Site 4, in good old Goose Creek, SC. We would have never had anything so current in stock on board I bet though.

Thats pretty cool, me and my kid had an awesome time on the Texas (100 degree day) when we were in Houston a couple years ago. He wanted to climb to the top! Beautiful ship, shame her future is so uncertain.

If I remember right the proceeds from the sale of the knives goes to helping with the preservation efforts of the ship.

Just got my custom Sawback Cutlass made by Scorpion Swords & Knives. I was goofing around and got a wild hair to have this sword made just for fun. I might have seen something like this in a comic book when I was a kid or something but I always had this design bumping around in my head. Sort of a modern pirate theme. I finally pulled the trigger and had it made.

Just like all their blades, it's made from heat treated 1095 high carbon steel. The handle is black Micarta. This was made from a written description and a very rough drawing. Like I said, just for fun. I think that it turned out great.

Looks similar to the D'Capitan Sabre (pair it with the D' Capitan Companion). D’Capitan 2012

Took an $88 chance on this, looks awesome, seems crazy for the price, wanted a damascus folder that was inexpensive enough to actually use. Defcon Peregrine, it's chicom VG-10 core damascus, actual legit damascus, Ti framelock good machining(clip and glassbreaker/pommel are steel), good flipper action running on bearings, and really like the blade shape and slender/long overall size.
