Looking to put together a "basic" utility AR15 in 223/5.56, Maryland compliant.
Looking for a 16" barrel, or even a 14.5" pinned.
I do not want or need a "match grade" barrel, I have no illusions of picking off zombies at 800 yds. Just a good solid barrel that will ring 4" plates at 300 yards.
Also a one that will "tolerate" my lack of cleaning after every shooting.
I do not shoot a lot,, once a month, barrel may see 600 rounds a year.
I looked at the Bear creek arsenal offerings,, but really wanted something a step or two above that. This includes all the outfits selling BCA under there own name. And I do not like that their "heavys" do not taper down after the chamber like colt, faxon, etc.
I like the Profile of the Faxon HEAVY fluted Match grade,, but do not want/need a match grade or it's price.
The Ballistic Advantage SPR fluted has the same profile as the Faxon, and a great price, But BA refuses to call it "heavy" or HBAR.
Do I want S.S.,, 4150? chrome lined?
Any ideas on a utility grade hbar barrel that is a step above BCA/CBC ?
