Early report was that the trigger was unimpressive, and that's a deal killer on an SAO pistol. I can get a meh trigger on a striker-fired gun seven days a week.

The funny thing is, I do think there's a market for a cheaper SAO gun with a large-cap mag and a rocking trigger. So if the aftermarket can fix the trigger, I could see a reason to buy it. But as it is... what's the point?

It's a Sig 938 copycat. What's the price comparison of the two?

    Looks like preorder is $600.

I saw complaints on horrible reset. How do they eff that up, especially on sao?

    Unexciting to me.

Next up is for me is the 43X to replace the 365XL currently being carried. The Sig has a strange gap in my hand towards the top of the grip and the flat trigger just doesn't do it for me.

The only reason I could see getting this is if was optics ready. S&W had to leave something for the performance center versions to milk

The CSX railroad is going to have a problem with this. Either the name is changed, or S&W pays a licensing fee to CSX.

It will most likely be the former.

    What a huge screw up!

They might if S&W was getting into the railroad business.

On the pistol. It will sell well I bet. Most gun buyers couldn't tell a good trigger from a toy gun trigger. I think 10-12 rounds gives it an edge over single stack options. I'd always wait a year to get a better model. My only regret about the FN 509. Wish I waited for the Tactical version.

some dude on reddit named it the railyard hobo blaster:D

They keep screwing the pooch, most people that want a defensive polymer 9mm don't want a mini 1911ish SAO, those that do want a good trigger, metal and wood. There is a market for a production poly framed fullsize SAO with a great trigger, high grip, and large cap mags as an entry level competition gun.

This gun fills a gap in ultra compact defensive pistols.

    10&12 round mags
    9mm
    SAO
    Hammer fired
    Manual safety
    Safety trigger
    All metal
    Thin
    Swappable back straps
    A respectable manufacturer

Where's the miss? Put one in your hand and form an educated opinion.

You are right but I am a S&W fan love their M&P line but they came with some horrible triggers, the trigger on my M&P 9 (1.0) had a trigger pull somewhere between forever and infinity. Yes I was able to fix it by giving Apex some money, I guess manufacturers want to give gun grabbers a bone by making sure the trigger pull is super long so that the person pulling the trigger can think about it until the very end.....

Why would I ever carry this instead of a Sig P365?

It's not meant to compete with the 365 directly. But, it does give you different option. Many new gun buyer want a manual safety and hammer. Why hate on it? Don't buy it. You have a 365.
    BTW, I won't buy it. I'd buy a P365!

Well, I like the concept - unless the trigger is indeed crap. Give me a hammer-fired small SAO for carry and I'll be interested. Give me one with a decent trigger and I'll probably buy it. Plus, I'm a S&W fan.
