I really don't know what is optimal and safe which why I asked. BTW, Colt also advises light lubrication. Next time you have a class, ask the manufacturer reps why they don't update their owner manuals with your technique.

Since you are an expert, do you prefer LSA. Slick2000, CLP or something else?
    Have a great day.

I assumed he was asking me a legitimate question.

He seems comfortable following alternative advice, so I told him to follow it.

In hindsight I believe it's trolling. Just like your post.

thank God I change my engine oil after every trip to the grocery store.
You don't have to. Your vehicle has an Oil Filter to maintain the continuous flow of oil by removing particles including: dirt; oil which has oxidized; and metallic particles that can appear in motor oil due to engine wear or other factors. Failing to change your Oil Filter at the necessary intervals can result in particulates getting through to cause engine wear/damage.

Your firearm does not have this capability.

    Not a good comparison.

    7000 rounds without cleaning.

I think that's an impressive feat of engineering.

I do think it's an unnecessary shame though and I'd never rely on a weapon treated like that for personal protection.
100% agree, but it’s good to know that the AR15 can and will continue to pew even when severely mistreated.

    I definitely agree.

As a Glock(s) owner, I know there's a wide margin for them to function when dirty, etc. I don't ever want to get within sight of that line though.

I never carry a dirty gun. It has to be one that I've cleaned and oiled since last being fired. It's just a rule I have for myself. Others may feel differently and that's up to them.

    I was.

I do and will. The Duck Sauce looks yummy. ;-)

If I was trolling you I would have posted something like "I'll bet you also put an extra quart or 2 of oil in your car because someone on the internet claims more oil is better and won't address the foaming and pressure issues. LOL

I am having a kick ass day, and hope you are too.

I was only trying to warn you that not everyone knows who you are. Then you refused to introduce yourself or give me a link. No clue why the rude. Then I read your other exchanges...

Laughed for ten minutes straight. You even called someone else a troll. I was crying.

Clandestine wouldn’t piss on me if I were on fire…well, maybe he would.

I believe his advice is sound. He knows his way around ARs. Just like many things in life, there may be more than one correct answer.

I don't think cleaning is so difficult for most of my guns. My son and I went to the range Sunday. CZ-75, M&P 15-22, and Mosin M28/30. I showed him how to take down and clean the 15-22. I've seen the test where they run the 15-22 without cleaning for a while and it keeps chugging, but it's my son's rifle, and I like it clean and ready to go. Blast the bolt assembly with some Hornady One Shot, run a brush thru the bore, done. Quick clean the CZ-75 since it sits by the bed. Maybe a couple minutes. Then there's the M28/30. You'd think it would be quick. Nope. I don't know what the Russians put in their ammo, charcoal? Took forever to flush the bore (corrosive ammo) and get clean patches out of it. Maybe I'll use Scrubbing Bubbles next time.

It's amazing to hear all the reasons for not cleaning firearms. I have assumed that cleaning is necessary for proper functioning, accuracy, and prevention of rust, and other problems. But what do I know?
You probably do more damage to accuracy by constantly cleaning than by not cleaning every time. Muzzleloaders and corrosive ammo are the exceptions
