I bought this M1903 with the intent to raid it for the stock set. It's not everyday that you come across a prewar C stock in crisp, undamaged condition.
When it arrived, the stock was every bit as nice as I had hoped for. The outside was unsanded and there's barely any damage. Inside, there...
I finally found an excellent walnut stocked Swedish m/96. I've seen plenty of beech-stocked rifles but I'm a big fan of walnut on surplus rifles. This is the only foreign rifle in my collection.
Numbers matching throughout and the stock is in great condition. My only gripe is the...
My 1903 Springfield addiction continues to spiral out of control.
The latest addition is an early Remington M1903 (#3256) likely built in November, 1941.
The previous owner (Rick the Librarian of CMP fame) bought it as a rifle that was untampered with except for a butchered New Zealand...
Some background to start- I have a Glock 43 with magazine removal issues. Most of the time, the magazine would not drop free and had to be pulled from the weapon. Like some other people that have posted online, the edge of the lip where the magazine catch interfaces was mushrooming. I shaved...
Dupage Trading recently posted a couple of M1903s for sale and this one caught my eye for one, and only one reason- the pre-WWII C stock attached to it! So, while the rifle may be a mixmaster, it is a perfect candidate for Camp Perry use.
Springfield Armory didn't manufacture a whole lot of...
I recently fulfilled one of my longtime goals of acquiring a USMC rebuilt M1903. They're an interesting subset in the story of overhauled M1903s and the fact that they were the standard issue at Guadalcanal makes them that much more desirable.
My particular rifle was purchased from a...
Cleaned the target today (100 - 5x) today with my M1903 Mark I. She's a beat up Greek return with a worn barrel gauging 2.5 at the muzzle with no crown, but a new stock and handloads have really breathed some new life into an old rifle.
Yes, the M1A isn't C&R...it should be though :D
Who can guess which one has non-GI wood?
The fruits of John Garand's genius:
And the obligatory solo shot of my first and favorite:
While not as nice as my friend Ken's recently acquired Navy M1903, she's still no slouch:
Is there any way to purchase an unregulated M14 type rifle in Maryland? I know the M1A is specifically banned by name, but would a receiver marked M21 pass as unregulated?
I've tried reading various online postings and opinions from Maryland's State Police and I'm still unsure of what the...
In my opinion, the big three of US .30 caliber rifles are the M1903, M1 and M14. Sure, there are the Krag and M1917, but shhhhhh :D
The M1 and M1903 have received new stocks since I bought them, while the M1A just received a USGI TRW parts kit yesterday.
A child of WWI, built right after...
Does anyone know of a nearby machinist who could mill down the side of a M14 connector? I need this done to fit the wide op-rod rail on a M1A (dummy selector).

I bought a used M1A that was painted from the ferrule forward- I have stripped off 95% of the paint and I'm now looking to have the gun reparked.
Does anyone know of a reliable, local (MD/VA) place to get it done reasonably quickly?
Thanks,
Mitchell
Got a new Dupage stock for the M1 rifle and the rest of them needed some TLC.
Plenty of raw linseed oil, a rag, and patience really brings out the best in these old rifles.
Does anyone on this board know how to build M1s? (including rebarreling, headspace, stock fitment, etc)
I'd like to learn at some point and would greatly appreciate some hands on instruction.
Thanks
Hello,
I was wondering if it is legal for an 18 year old to take a Rock River LAR-15 HBAR to the range without a 21 year old supervising him. Does anyone know how Maryland law deals with this?
The LAR-15 in question has a six position LE stock and a 16 inch HBAR profile barrel.
I've...
