Weather and schedule permitting, a group of us shoot 5 stand at Hopewell Fish on Thursdays, The group usually consists of my brother, me, father in law and wife's nephew (sometimes). No pun intended, we have a blast and I think if my wife tried it, she'd enjoy it as well. Currently she isn't a...
Another vote for Joel Etchen's.
Last fall, brother and I went there since he's a lefty.
He was able to handle 4 different lefty models that day between Browning and Beretta. Prepare to spend some time there comparing different makes, models. I forget who the salesman was that helped him...
As others said, depends on the goal. First trigger upgrade I did was a volquartsen which was 1000 times better than stock. Then I replaced that with a Kidd. Traded the Volquartsen to a buddy.
Just curious, was the flyer your first shot?
I learned that my first will always be a flyer vs the rest of magazine. Might not be by much, but enough to drop points in a match. After learning that, waste first round use next 8, swap mag and continue shooting, never run mag empty before...
10/22's are so much fun... I think only factory parts left on mine are bolt, receiver and scope mount.
Bell and Carlson anchsutz style stock, volquartson barrel, kidd 2 stage trigger 7oz and 7oz , power custom extended titanium bolt handle and recoil spring assembly.
If/when you can, do your self a huge favor and get a hand priming tool. I have the original RCBS (not the universal one) and it is so much faster and get a good feel on the seating.
Can prime 100 in about 8 minutes.
Great point SG.
And your pic is perfect for the next point. I've seen this mentioned a ton online that H110 and W296 are "the same powder" but why is the min,/max data different?!?! I'll stick with what the books say and treat them differently.
That's how I do the mundane parts, like trimming or removing primer crimps or annealing. Just put some music on, spend an hour or two and chip away.
Once I get large batch of brass ready, label it and store it til ready to load.
Even loading on a single stage with weighing every powder...
Agreed on time.
Saturday was miserable weather and all house projects for me was either deck or shed, so nopes. Therefore time spent processing brass (this time, removing primer crimps) instead of being a couch potato. At least I was somewhat productive.
As others have said, it all depends on a lot of variables, such as timing of ammo shortages/availability, caliber, when people got/get into it
When I got into the 6.5 grendel in 2009, cheapest factory ammo was $1.32/round, (black hills gold with Lapua brass and 123SMK). Shopping for deals, I...
Finally got things dialed in to load 9mm on the l-n-l with case feeder and bullet feeder tubes. Loaded 100, plunk tested all and will get to range in next few days. If all good, run a large batch.
